Wat Chang Lom is the best-known monument within Si Satchanalai Historical Park, located about 55 kilometers north of Sukhothai Historical Park.
Built during the late 13th or early 14th century, the temple is renowned for its large Sri Lankan-style bell-shaped chedi surrounded by 39 life-sized elephant sculptures emerging from its base.
The temple is considered one of the finest examples of Sukhothai religious architecture and remains one of the highlights of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Wat Chang Lom was constructed during the height of the Sukhothai Kingdom and served as an important Buddhist temple for the royal city of Si Satchanalai.
